Let FGM Automation do a garage door service on your garage door to keep it and the garage door motor operating
safely and smoothly for a prolonged period. We have thousands of clients who we visit on an annual basis to service their garage door/s, reducing the risk of the garage door and garage door motor malfunctioning when you least expect it.
Many say they can service a garage door but all they do is empty a can of silicone
spray on your garage door and
motor. Only FGM Automation does it properly, as it should be done.
We check the tension of the garage door springs when we do a garage door service and adjust the tension if required. This will extend the life of your garage door components and your garage door motor as the garage door motor will not need to labour as hard to open and close the garage door. This also has an impact on how many cycles you will get out of your garage door motor’s battery backup system (heavier garage door, less cycles). We will advise you on the condition of your garage door springs should they need to be replaced.
We also check the garage door cables that attach the spring system to the bottom brackets, on both sides of
the garage door when we do a garage door service to see if they are still in a good condition.
These cables need to be replaced if they are damaged or start to fray. Due to the dangers associated with
high spring tension, these cables should be replaced only by a trained technician. We will advise you on the
condition of your garage door cables should they need to be replaced.
Garage Door hinges and the hinge screws are normally the first components that take strain if the garage door
is not balanced. We inspect all the hinges for cracks or to see if they are broken when we do a garage door
service. All hinge screws are checked and tightened.
We only lubricate hinges (not with Silicone oil) if they
require lubrication. The reason for this is that dust accumulates in the lubricant (especially when Silicone
oil is used) and can cause other problems over time.
Garage door wheels or rollers are checked for cracks or if they are broken when we do a garage door service.
The wheels must be able to turn freely and slide easily from side to side when the garage door opens or
closes. This can impact the smoothness of the garage door’s operation and can cause the garage door to start
jerking/bouncing, causing damage to other components of the garage door and to the garage door motor. We
will advise you on the condition of your garage door wheels or rollers should they need to be replaced.
